Review of Superman II (1980) by Craig S — 15 Nov 2009
The first one made you believe a man could fly. This one made you believe a sequel could actually surpass its original. And in many ways it did. In the Hollywood pantheon of endless sequels, only a select few can truly be called improvements upon the original.
The Godfather 2, The Empire Strikes Back, and Superman II. The original cast returned to the roles they seemed born to play. Superman, a seemingly invincible hero, was faced with the challenge of three evil villains with all the powers he has.
Plus, Terrance Stamp as Zod. Kneel before Zod. It doesn't get better than this.
