Review of Superman II (1980) by Benjamin E — 06 Feb 2010
For years and years and years, I loved this movie. The only time we get to see Superman throw down with villians and not hold back.
Terrence Stamp as General Zod, great casting call. Superman giving up his power to be with Lois. I don't get.
This is what happened when Richard Donner had directed over seventy-five percent of this movie concurrently with Superman. The Salkynds fired him and brought in Richard Lester to fininsh this movie. In order for him to get directing credit, he needed to have directed about seventy percent of the movie. He then set out to make a different Superman II.
I do like this movie. It is a little campy in places. The throwing of Supermans shield and the amnesia kiss are true WTF moments.
Sticking with continuity, this is the bridge from Superman: The Movie to Superman Returns. I still love to watch it!
