Review of Superman II (1980) by Rick D — 13 Jun 2012
Way back in August of 1981, in fact the very night I got out of boot camp, my wife and I went to some local multi-plex in Orlando Florida and watched Superman II. In the 31 years since its release, what with tv showings and the like Iâ??ve probably seen it 10 or 11 times.
And while it really in the end is not as good a movie as the 1978 original, itâ??s still one of the best superhero movies ever filmed if only for the completely over the top performance by the great Terrance Stamp as General Zod.
Certainly compared to todayâ??s special effects extravaganza, the fight between Superman (as always wonderfully played by Christopher Reeve) and the villains looks somewhat dated, but the story is good fun and everyone has a good time chewing the scenery.
