Review of Submarine (2011) by Winfield W — 04 Jan 2012
A story of a boy's struggles as he comes of age with a narrative that is divided into parts. I love the quirkiness of it all and it helped that the two lead actors, Craig Roberts and Yasmin Paige, were adorable.
Them being not the typical good-looking leads in most teen movies makes it more credible. It alternates between light-hearted moments and deeply serious ones which gives this coming-of-age story more substance.
It is also worth mentioning that this is Ayoade's directorial debut and he made a fairly good job at it.
