Review of Submarine (2011) by Kerry M — 10 Jan 2012
An off quirky, dark, angsty film from the mind of Richard Ayode, best known for his work on the British series "The IT Club", "Submarine" is oddly touching for the current generation- but the dramatic farly outweighs the comedic bits of this film, so don't go and see it based on its genre classification.
Sub is a well filmed tour de force of a young boy's confusing journey into adulthood while protecting the relationships that he values in his life. There are some stunning visuals here, to go along with the art house vibe music, and well-done editing.
Earns every bit of 3 stars, but nothing more.
