Review of Stuck (2002) by Sean C — 19 Jun 2010
This based on a true story oddity from Amicus is a tough story to swallow. A young girl who cares for the elderly has everything going for her, including a possible promotion at work, when one drug-fuelled night out later she is driving home trying to make a phone-call when she smacks into Stephen Rea's homeless man.
What follows borders on the absurb but somehow you're not laughing, purely because the makers say it is based on a true story. It doesn't really add up to much and the climax feels tacked on to satisfy test audience expectations.
However the acting is first-rate from the leads. It's just a shame the tale is such a tough one to really believe in....
