Review of Struck by Lightning (2013) by Jessica E — 09 Jan 2013
One of the things I enjoyed most about this movie was that the main character wasn't your average protagonist for a teen angst movie revolving around being an outcast. Most of those films have some lost in the background wallflower that is looked over but their peers and just needs to find the right person to see them for who they really are so they can break out of their shell.
Not Carson, he's sarcastic, blunt, self aware and unforgiving of who he is. He knows who he is and what he wants and nothing will get in his way...well, except Mother Nature. This movie had a good mix of drama and comedy with well defined characters to carry the story through.
Personally, I feel a little more could have been done with the blackmail scheme and perhaps the ending could have shown that Carson had more influence on his school peers then was portrayed. But as it is, this movie is def a 4.
5 out of 5.
