Review of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009) by Joe S — 18 Nov 2009
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is one legend that's better forgotten. This film really suck!! We all saw Capcom's Street Fighter on the big screen during the 90's (with Van Damme) and it was a big disappointment & a dismal flop.
So, after 10 years, Hollywood thought that all is forgotten. Well, guess again. Another disappointment and more bigger than before. The film tried harder to become an entertaining film but to no avail.
Kristin Kreuk (Smallville series) is soooo miscast as Chun-Li. Chris Klein's (American Pie trilogy) acting is such a pain in the ass!! They're both lame & boring. It was Neal McDonough (Desperate Housewives, 88 Minutes) who really is the only savior of the film.
He is very credible as the soulless and heartless Bison. Considering this film was directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak (Cradle 2 the Grave. Romeo Must Die), I expected a lot in terms of fight scenes but again I was disappointed.
With 2 Street Fighter movies that made 2 of the worst films to date, I think they should put a stop to it and get on with their own lives... Well, this is just me...
