Review of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009) by Greg W — 01 Jan 2014
Chun-li is tasked with trying to rescue her father from a crime lord. The first movie adaptation of the video game was good, it was cheesy, but in an enjoyable way. This movie, has some, but feels like everyone involved tried to make this as serious as possible.
It just doesn't work that way. Chris Klein is doing his best to resemble a 90s era Keanu, the characters have almost nothing to do with the game, there are way too many storylines which just end up muddying everything because they don't go anywhere.
This could have been good, but it isn't. A lot of wire work is used, which is ok, but the fights weren't anything special. They tried their hardest to do a serious film reboot of the franchise and failed.
