Review of Straw Dogs (1971) by Frederick M — 02 Aug 2008
I thought this was a bit sensationalist and out of control. It's understandable at first that the locals have contempt for Dustin Hoffman's character but then it gets to the point where it's just silly and unrealistic.
These local rural English boys suddenly become homicidal maniacs who rape people and want to kill others. Film in the 70s was about crossing new boundaries for sure but I think that's all this movie attempted to do.
