Review of Strange Magic (2015) by Chris M — 27 Jan 2015
Take Mid Summer Nights Dream, mix it with Glee and serve it Frozen and you get Strange Magic. I thought it would be some kind of Frengully remake thing. The only thing strange about this is why would anyone make this movie.
Had potential, but was ruined with all the singing. It kind of reminded me if Mama Mia, in that the songs ruin the story and are forced to fit to drive the plot. Doesn't work. There are good moments in the few parts of no singing.
For instance I liked Sunny and Kristen as the Sugar Plum Fairy was really good. This movie was also not marketed as such a musical either, unless I missed it. Glad I only wasted $5 to see it. I'm not even sure kids will enjoy it.
If I was a kid I probably would have made my parents take me home less then halfway through.
