Review of Strange Days (1995) by Mark N — 06 Apr 2012
A genuinely interesting plot device, a head set that allows you to experience visions and emotions recorded from someone else, that is illegal and being used perversely by a serial killer. A fine starting point for a techo-thriller with blade-runner overtones.
Unfortunately Bigalow seems unable to pace the movie or do much with the material to make it fun and keep up the initial burst of interest. The plot itself falls short as it unravels as actually a rather mundane couple of murder plots.
A sad near miss.. that flopped badly at the box office the movie is certainly enjoyable but it could have been a great deal better.
