Review of Straight Outta Compton (2015) by Acaiberry — 08 Nov 2015
"YO, That *HIT was dope!".
Im a big fan of history of rap and hip-hop most of my life so this movie was special to me in figuring out more about what happened to nWA. Although I do not know if it is 100% accurate, I do trust Ice Cube and Dr Dre with their oversight of the movie.
Im glad this movie came out because rap was more about the materialistic outside things but more a reflection of the harsh lifestyle of many people, not just African-Americans. I think when watching this movie, a lot of different ethnicities could connect with the struggles of the African American male in some way. And I hope that the storytelling and the lessons in this movie could inspire people to be better people and not just view rap the way it is commonly perceived today.
Other than that, fk Suge Knight.
Worth watching but watch with a teachable heart and not a prejudiced one. You aint judge Judy and not all stereotypes are 100% true.
