Review of Stonehearst Asylum (2014) by Brandon W — 17 Mar 2016
Brad Anderson's Stonehearst Asylum is a great movie that is a bit of an improvement from his previous film The Call. The idea in this by Edgar Allen Poe is really quite new and a nice idea too that I'm glad that the filmmakers fully envisioned it to the big screens.
The acting is great, especially Jim Sturgess, Ben Kingsley, and Kate Beckinsale. I like the chemistry between Sturgess and Beckinsale, and the story is great. The writing's not bad, and there's some tense moments.
It's interesting, and has some good thrills. People might say that the ending is tacked on which I somewhat agree, but I like the ending and was interested of how it ended. There are some moments that could've been better, but the negative things are minor as Stonehearst Asylum is a good time for people who are fans of Edgar Allen Poe, and also to those who aren't.
