Review of Still Alice (2014) by Marcdoyle — 17 Jan 2015
Julianne Moore has most certainly locked up her first Oscar with this performance, if there's any justice in awards shows (which, of course, there is not). The closest to her is Marion Cotillard in the outstanding Two Days, One Night.
But Moore is entirely convincing in this daring role. The plaudits lobbed at actors who portray those with disabilities and afflictions are the subject of criticism, but this didn't strike me as that type of role.
She (with the help of terrific writing and directing) really nail the human side of this terrifying illness.
