I saw the original 'Starship Troopers' movie and very much enjoyed it. When I received this straight-to-DVD sequel, I was optimistic. It's a hard job for DVD sequels to live up to the standard of the theatrical film.
Unfortunately, this movie has the same problem. The actors are OK and aren't the problem of the film. The special effects are actually amazing, which is surprising for the low budget. The problem lies in the story.
It's very basic. There is an interesting twist in the story but this is still limited to how much can be done. They are just stuck in the same location for the whole film, with most of the story going towards dialogue.
Still, when you need something to do, it's not a complete loss.
