Review of Starry Eyes (2014) by Michael M — 19 Nov 2014
To many reviews these days refer to a film being a "slow burn" as if that is a bad thing. "Starry Eyes" comes on like a new friendship. We are given time to get to know the characters and the life they all have .
Rather than yank the rug out from under us they drag us slowly toward the edge of a cliff; you know the drop is coming, you just don't know when and oh what a drop it is. The film descends into a level of brutality I doubt any "major" studio would attempt.
