Review of Starman (1984) by Will C — 09 Jun 2008
For a film that I enjoyed several times as a kid, this hasn't aged well. All the performances are good, but Carpenter just isn't as adept at dealing with human emotions as he is with machete-wielding psychos, cigar-chomping anti-heroes, or multi-tentacled alien beasties.
Tellingly, he only made a couple more decent flicks after this.
