Review of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) by Amanda C — 15 Aug 2009
This movie has a very different look and feel from the previous ones. The writing is clunky at best and the actors delivery of the lines, especially in the beginning of the film, seem forced and scripted, although it does improve when they go into space.
The actors seem to be finding their way with their characters, which is ridiculous, as they've been playing them for 20 years on and off. The plot is weirder than the last film with the whales and the conflict seems to take the entire movie to get to and then it's over in five minutes.
Shatner can be a good actor at times, and this film does have its moments, but he's not particularly good at writing, and his direction is inconsistent.
