Review of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) by Roy S — 27 Nov 2012
A good but not great entry in the Trek franchise. It has many moments. The general and unfortunate absence of Spock leaves a little more room for the other characters. McCoy has a particularly nice scene in a bar with an alien.
It also introduces a Klingon villain played marvelously by Christopher Lloyd. The problems largely come from a plot I find to be a little hokey and New Agey, especially at the beginning and ending. There are a few other weird touches like pink chairs on one of the starships that rookie director Nimoy mistakenly thought were good ideas.
I still think most people, even non-fans, will find it moderately enjoyable.
