Review of Stalag 17 (1953) by John M — 21 Feb 2008
More than merely a POW comedy, "Stalag 17" is a great demonstration of skilled acting and perfect direction. Holden's performance is carefully constructed to bring interest, not necessarily amiability, and Wilder's direction lets the laughs come but not without losing its dark, cynical undertones.
