Review of Stalag 17 (1953) by Greg B — 18 May 2011
What a good, old movie. Set in a German prison camp during WW2, Stalag 17 is well-written, acted, and thought-out. This isn't a "we do this and we save the war cause" movie. Instead, it centers around a group of American soldiers in one barracks who would love to be anywhere but there.
However, in their attempts to escape, it becomes apparent that there is a rat among them. From William Holden's great role as Sefton, the Sergeant no one trusts, to the scene stealing, comedy relief of Animal, Stalag 17 hits on all fronts.
Take the time and give it a look.
