Review of Stake Land (2010) by Bob R — 17 Jun 2011
It's Walking Dead meets True Blood meets The Road, with a voiceover that would make Ed Wood proud ("I think it's best to begin at the beginning..." Oh, really?). Goofy slo-mo vampire-staking martial arts training sequences in a field.
The protagonists drive hundreds of miles nonstop throughout the film, magically never having to fill up their gas tank. Likewise too, the male leads spend weeks in the frozen wilderness and mysteriously don't accrue any additional facial hair.
And by golly, isn't that young man a lucky son of a gun--every girl he meets on the journey is just sweet as apple pie, bright eyed, fresh faced and conveniently single and interested, not to mention in possession of a head of hair that retains its L'Oréal Paris sheen even in the forbidding wilderness!
