Review of Stake Land (2010) by Kevin K — 02 Aug 2011
Considering it was a low budget, independent film, I was impressed at the overall quality of the movie. This was a very somber film, almost too somber. It has a similar tone and feel as "The Road" (excellent movie) I liked that the most dangerous person you might come across in this post-apocalyptic world wasn't a vampire/zombie but other desperate/deranged humans. I might have rated it higher, but it gets a bit TOO dark and depraved in a few spots.
**minor spoiler alert** Two babies are killed in this film. One on-screen, one off. There are certain things I don't ever care to see on screen, regardless if they "help the story" or not.
