Review of Stagecoach (1939) by Amanda C — 02 Feb 2010
Almost impossibly dark for a western; it looked like a film noir, even sounded like it at times. I found it to be lacking in a lot of places, particularly story and character development - something failed to work on the screen. It was confusing and unfocused film-making (often visually as well as in the narration).
Meh. It didn't do it for me. Even John Wayne's sort of ludicrous charisma couldn't save this picture for me.
