Review of Stage Fright (2014) by Tyler R — 17 Jul 2014
Stage Fright is a slasher film crossed with a musical and it is just oh so terrible. It starts at camp center stage where the musically inclined can go to sing their hearts out for the entire summer. So the head of the camp played by rock star Meat Loaf wants to put on a stage revival of The Haunting Of The Opera which just so happens the last time it was put on stage the lead actress was murdered viciously.
So now her daughter wants to audition for the lead role her mother did all those years ago. But then a killer starts killing off everybody that has to do with the production and then it all sort of devolves until I was sort of just going why doesn't the killer just kill off everybody in the opening minutes so we don't have to deal with them the entire rest of the runtime.
Also this movie is a musical which would be ok if only there were any memorable songs at all. Everybody in this movie sings with a whiny stage voice the entire time and it's just so annoying. I hated this movie so very much but I will say i'm interested in seeing what the writer/director Jerome Sable does next.
It looks like he has talent but he just needs to put his talents into a better film.
