Review of Stage Fright (1950) by Meghan M — 06 Oct 2008
Whether you like this film or not probably depends on two things: 1. If you approve of the notorious flashback scene or not; 2. If you like Marlene Dietrich or not. In the case of the former, I actually think the flashback is quite original and clever (but Hitch himself thought it didn't work so what do I know?!); and in the case of the latter, well she's okay when she's not singing.
So I thought it was an okay film. It's quite lightweight in some respects and is mostly humour-orientated, but I still found it entertaining and it has plenty of noticeable Hitchcockian touches.
