Review of St. Elmo's Fire (1985) by Jon R — 24 Feb 2010
I completely agree that this movie can best be described as "FRIENDS" of the eighties. OK, so FRIENDS was a TV show on network television and this is a movie in the mid eighties but it is the same basic story.
This is when Joel Schumacher made some of his best movies, in the eighties and working with good talent with a low budget. The cast was great. Much like friends each character had there own "thing," and the actors played it really well.
The story itself it a little boring but you can't expect much excitement about a growing up drama among friends. I think the show could have been better as a comedy like the TV show, "FRIENDS.
" Not a must see but still a very well made movie.
