St. Elmo's Fire is one of those movies that isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination but there are moments within that makes this movie special. Whether these moments are the child-like pouting Emilio Estevez does when he can't have the girl of his dreams, or Rob Lowe playing saxophone, it is all in the viewers interpretation. The biggest problem with St. Elmo's Fire is how similar it is to The Breakfast club, and not just by the cast.

In The Breakfast Club, the setting is at a high school, and in St. Elmo's Fire it' is almost a continuation of some of the characters, in a sense. The two movies came out in the same year, so it could be a massive coincidence, but for the most part St. Elmo's Fire seems like the unwanted sequel to The Breakfast Club.

All other dislike aside, the acting was pretty good. There were painful parts but that didn't take away from the effectiveness of the stories that were being told. This was a very enjoyable movie and there is something that can be taken from St. Elmo's Fire, and while I feel the message does get lost at points in the movie, it is perfectly clear in the end. Definitely worth it to watch.
