Review of St. Elmo's Fire (1985) by Mike N — 08 Sep 2010
It's a good thing, I didnt start watching Joel Schumacher's films chronologically.Because I'd never have watched any of them after seeing this.
Considered as one of the quitessential & defining movies of the 80s generation,I can't figure out why.The movie tried to show post-graduation problems faced by most teens(or atleast the characters of the film). But the representation was not very well done. The characters are annoying. The choice of actors was wrong. What else is there to call it a good film?
Rob Lowe plays a stupid annoying, character.Judd Nelson is irritating as usual, hated him inThe Breakfast Club, this isnt very different either.People consider Nelson as a method actor, huh? Method acting my ass,he cant act...is just another punk!. Demi Moore plays yet another showoff...truly irritating.Ally sheedy,Andie MacDowell &Emilio Estevez would be the only actors who gave me a little reason to be interested till the end.
Bottomline- Rob Lowe & Judd Nelson overact so much, that I've decided never again to watch a film starring either.Hope I wont miss any starring Molly Ringwald!
