Review of St. Elmo's Fire (1985) by Hugo F — 13 Oct 2009
Another good, but not great movie.
The main reason why I was dissapointed in this movie was because this had all of the elements of being a truly great film, and it could have been soooo much more than what it was.
It is about these 7 best friends(kind of like "Friends" the TV show, except, with one more person) who have just graduated from Georgetown University, and they all are trying to find their way after college. They go through good times, great times, bad times, and even worse times. They really get a feel of what it is like to be out in the real world, and realize that everything isn't go be like it used too, and they take on responisbility that none of them have ever really experienced.
It mainly needed more character and story development. It tried to develop it's characters in quick-paced sentences and small parts of scenes, but that is defintely not the most efficient way to develop the story/characters. And that's not a knock on the acting, all of the 7 main characters did an admirable job in this movie. The score was also second to none. A great great soundtrack and use of music throughout the film.
It is still good, and has some powerful, heart-warming, and spine tingling scenes that will keep you entertained, but it could have been so much more.
