I know I'm over a decade late to the game, but, back when "Spy Kids" came out, my tastes weren't broad enough to appreciate it. How do I feel about it now? Well, as a whole, it was a fun, energetic, kid-friendly, action/espionage flick with plenty of intensity and a pro-family message.

A number of well-known veteran actors and actresses, ranging from Antonio Banderas ("The Mask of Zorro,") Carla Gugino ("Night at the Museum,") Tony Shalhoub ("Monk,") George Clooney ("ER,") and Teri Hatcher ("Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman") appear in this film.

There really wasn't much in the way of offensive content, though I do think it deserves the "TV-Y7-FV" rating not only because of the violence, but because of some scary scenes. However, the biggest problem for older viewers is the cheesiness of the special effects.

I've never seen the sequels, but I hope they're an improvement on that front. Still, for those who are young--or young at heart, like me--this is definitely a treat.
