Review of Spotlight (2015) by Dylan M — 06 Mar 2016
A story that's worth telling. Spotlight is about the investigations behind accused priests who have allegedly molested young children. Its such a delicate and pretty disturbing subject to put on the screen but the movie executed it so well.
I really enjoyed this film. Its star filled cast including Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Michael Keaton, Liev Schrieber, and Stanley Tucci, bring expeirence and add class to the film. Every individual gives a great performance and makes their character very believable.
But Mark Ruffalo stands out the most. I felt his was more ecstatic and flowing. Another Oscar worthy performance from him. The direction in the film is great. Behind a strong screenplay, Tom McCarthy does a stellar job at creating a lively atmosphere about the world of journalism.
It's compelling sorry really keeps you concerned with that matter at hand. My biggest issue with Spotlight although I wasn't completely bothered by it is the pace. I felt the film had a lot of incidents in which there were big scenes the movie slowed down.
It couldn't keep a steady moving rate of intensity. Audiences will also have trouble keeping track of numerous names that is hard to follow. Overall Spotlight was wonderful. It told the story so well that it made the movie very intriguing.
This is definitely one of the best all around films of 2015. If you're looking for a movie that is well written, acted and has a meaningful story, watch Spotlight.
