Review of Spotlight (2015) by Jsphx — 19 Dec 2015
This is Great film making. It is closely modeled on the Watergate Classic "All the President's Men". It eloquently demonstrates why a Free Press is an indispensable Pillar of democracy much less simple decency in the public arena.
Taking on the Catholic Church Hierarchy in the most Catholic City and Urban Culture in America was a supreme act of courage and devotion to the TRUTH and powerless but still supremely important victims not powerful institutions and personages.
Exposing the sordid culture of Priestly Child Abuse and High Level Church cover up took almost unheard of integrity and fiendishly Hard Work with no reward other than making Boston and the World a better place.
This is the kind of art which inspires MORE acts of courage rather than getting along by going along mediocrity which seems universal and unbreakable UNTIL some ordinary people do EXTRAORDINARY things.
