Review of Split (2017) by Torgnyhylen — 16 Apr 2017
Predictable yawn fest. The shrink's dialogue delivers nothing but exposition. The female protagonist(s) are poorly developed. The dialogue is totally insincere and unapologetically on the nose. McAvoy does the best he can with what he has, and as such is passable.
Anya stares a lot with tears. It's not them, it's the direction. It's all the more irritating because there could have been a taut thriller in here, as conceptually it's an interesting notion. However no-one does anything of import to drive the story forward.
There's a ticking time bomb, and it just counts down to the inevitable and totally predictable (spoiler alert) twist. Watch 10 Cloverfield Lane instead.
