Review of Manhunt (2008) by David L — 21 May 2012
If films are split into a beginning, main body, and final chapter, then then this entire movie was like watching the main body of a film without the other two elements! It was a very short production and wasted no time in getting straight to the core.
Ultimately, it was just another excuse to showcase the graphic ways that a select band of students could be captured and tortured. There didn't appear to be any reasoning to it other than aimless violence and centred largely around a cat and mouse chase in a large expanse of grassy woodland.
The (non existent) ending was another one of those frustrating moments whereby the credits start rolling without revealing why the events actually took place, and what happened to the supposed survivors.
Despite the odd success of a bit of torture porn, this didn't really have a great deal of original appeal, and became all too monotonous as we watched the individuals just trek through the woods for an hour! Not the worst way to kill an hour or so, but wouldn't choose to do it again anytime soon!
