Review of Spies Like Us (1985) by Fred B — 20 Aug 2007
John Landis knows how to make a good comedy, I mean, just look at The Blues Brothers, one of the most beloved comedy films of all time. In this film set during the cold war (an odd setting for a comedy) Landis uses the talents of Chase and Aykroyd in every way imaginable.
Aykroyds deadpan delivery and his slapstick brilliance are put to great use, with Chase providing admirable support as the randy and naive part of the duo. There are some good set pieces, and the training scene has some excellent laughs in it, which all makes for an excellent comedy film.
One for a Saturday night.
