Review of Spider-Man 3 (2007) by Aidan K — 05 Aug 2014
Where do you go after Spider Man 2? Pretty much only here. Because you have the excellent Topher Grace as Eddie Brock / Venom, you have Toby Maguire again acting in his usual cool style as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, and you have Thomas Haden Church as Sand-Man.
Say what you want about Peter Parker going Emo and starting in on dancing with others joining. It takes a genius to come up with a scene so unique, it is one of the most memorable scenes in movie history.
One of the other most memorable scenes is the birth of Venom, and Venom is -- with no doubt -- one of the scariest Marvel villains of all time, and it really gives DC a run for their money. This is the kind of movie that takes itself seriously, and partly comically, and there is no lesson needing to be learned by the filmmakers about mixing seriousness with comedy.
