Review of Spartan (2004) by Paul D — 20 Feb 2009
Spartan is a story that many film fans have seen many times before. The story of a high profile kidnapping and the people hunting them, and you know what, we still love them. there's something about these kinds of films that we just can't get enough of. There action packed, thought provoking, and you always seem to be on the edge of your seat throughout.
Spartan is the story of a seasoned soldier who is trying to investigate and hunt down those responsible for the kidnapping of the presidents daughter. Val Kilmer is convincing and cool in this role. The film kept me thinking and on edge throughout. As the film progresses and more comes out and the story changes, it's almost confusing and leaves the audience unsure of what's to come. That's one thing I love about film. I love being surprised and I love being pushed in different direction and not knowing what to expect.
Spartan was quite a pleasant surprise, and un underrated film. It's great to see a classic idea brought out and done right. It's also nice to see Val Kilmer in a role that he can pull off with ease!
