Review of Spartacus (1960) by Steve P — 10 Apr 2009
A sweeping epic. Ok. Over-long. Olivier and Ustinov are great. The battle scenes are amazing given they were done in the '60s. Has been called a 'thinking person's film' because it doesn't finish with a happy ending.
Worth a look even if only for historical value (in the sense that it is a classic bit of film making). Make sure you get the uncut version.
