Review of Spartacus (1960) by Peter B — 17 Jan 2010
A real classic. An epic with a real sweeping feel to it. A tremendous kirk douglas lights up the screen. It dips a little near the end when douglas goes away for a bit but other than that its a 3hr epic that for the most part doesnt go on just for the sake of it, here is a story to tell and this means it doesnt drag.
Its a classic but one that isnt too wildly known so I was surprised by many moments - especially the ending and what has to be one of the greatest battle scenes in the history of film. Give it a go and be thoroughly entertained throughout.
Great stuff.
