Review of Spartacus (1960) by Sophie . — 26 Dec 2011
Lawrence Olivier is brilliant in the role of Crassus, and both Charles Laughton and Peter Ustinov turn in marvelous performances. Even Kirk Douglass manages to be convincing. The film is marred only by Tony Curtis' lame showing as Antoninus, yet I still give this epic classic a 100% rating due to its compelling presentation of Roman/Western history, its handling of the issue of slavery, and the superb performances of its English actors.
