Review of Spartacus (1960) by Nate G — 10 Apr 2012
It's overlong but it's a thrill. Kirk Douglas, again teaming with Stanley Kubrick following Paths of Glory, delievers a solid performance as the hero-slave Spartacus. This film flies in two respects - the sheer spectacle, and the nuances Kubrick injects into the quiet scenes.
It is a film that rewards repeat viewing. Not many can say that.
