Review of Spartacus (1960) by Austin W — 18 Jan 2015
Spartacus is basically stanley kubricks foray into the big blockbuster business and I can see why. this film has such an epic feel to it that many sword and sandal epics have tried after yet couldnt. spartacus has great characters, a timeless story, and powerful lessons that have been ripped off so many times afterwards.
yes kubrick would go on to make movies better, movies far darker and more sophisticated but spartacus is still a worthy entry in the kubrick filmography and a great watch for anyone into classic films.
