Review of Soylent Green (1973) by Lorin H — 10 Apr 2008
Just because the ending punchline is kitschy doesn't mean the whole movie is. In honor of Heston's passing, I gave this one a spin. Turns out, it's quite good! The secret ingredient of Soylent Green is actually not the most disturbing aspect of this alternate future.
(What they do to rioters is pretty darn horrible.) And Edward G. Robinson's performance was lovely. The film's subject matter is unfortunately still extremely relevant 35 years on....
