I was never expecting an original work of art in the underdog boxing oeuvre, but when the trailer shows the most dramatic turn, it's tough to be surprised. Again, Gyllenhaal's performance saves an otherwise lackluster script that first casted Eminem (Eminem, folks) as the lead.
That movie would have felt more like a biopic of the little white guy in Mike Tyson's Punchout.
