Review of Southpaw (2015) by Sandro R — 02 Jan 2018
Southpaw relies too much on genre conventions and its tearjerker moments are a little too obviously designed to be just that, but a powerful performance from Jake Gyllenhaal and good production value save it from falling flat.
It's uneven, but impressive in parts, even if it doesn't reach the heights of that years other boxing movie, "Creed".
