Review of Southpaw (2015) by Jono M — 24 Aug 2015
Despite hearing some negativity when it was released, I went into this movie excited as I am generally a sucker for a boxing film. Jake Gyllenhaal's engaging performance did make this movie slightly better than it should have been; I constantly found myself thinking about how much preparation he must have put into the role.
However, the use of too many sports movie cliches and some poor and obvious dialogue made Southpaw a less than enjoyable experience.
