Review of Southpaw (2015) by Chris H — 04 Oct 2015
A very clumsy script and an underwhelming amount of actual boxing, "Southpaw" is a story about the troubled boxer that can't get his live together without fighting. Gyllenhaal is a briliant choice and an excellent lead, but he cannot shoulder off the cliches that piece this story together.
The cinematography is its most intriguing asset, but again, too few boxing scenes to showcase the film's highlights. Reviewed 9/21/15. Rated 2.75 out of 5.
