Review of Southern Comfort (1981) by Justin B — 24 Jun 2017
Another film from Walter Hill that shows off how great of a director he truly is. Yes it may somewhat be similar to The Warriors as both feature a group of people who are on the run from another group of people who are superior in force and weaponry while travelling through hostile territory though for the most part I enjoyed this somewhat more than that film though both even out as the same score.
No this film isn't as iconic or as culturally significant but I feel as though this film is better crafted, has way better action, is more violent and the final part is utterly riveting. The setting is also great and the score by Ry Cooder fits the location and the atmosphere of the film perfectly.
